SOME PEOPLE LIKE TO WALK FIVE MILES WHILE BROWSING UPSCALE SHOPS, I PREFER TO DO ALL MY SHOPPING IN ONE BEAUTIFUL LOCATION... WITH THE BEST STUFF IN THE WORLD RIGHT AT MY FINGER TIPS...WITH “WHIM,” ONCE AGAIN THE BORGATA BAR GOES A BIT HIGHER...

One can’t help but think that sooner or later the folks in the executive offices at Borgata are going to start running low on ideas which have set them apart from the other casinos in town, right from the moment they opened. At the very minimum, you might think they would succumb to complacency like so many other “one time” industry leaders. Just look at the state of the auto industry nationwide, and the one-time, “Big Three.” A lot of folks will tell you that Toyota is responsible for their financial woes, I would point to that old company killer, complacency.

Complacency is a by-product of arrogance coupled with a loss of the competitive spirit which got them to where they are. But these folks at Borgata operate more like Toyota than Ford or GM. They live to outdo themselves. It is evident in just about everything they do. What’s that old saying from one of our sister southern states, “Pretty is as pretty does,” I think is how it goes. Using that as a guideline, Borgata is looking pretty damn good.

They continue to set the entertainment pace in town and I have no doubt, that as I write this, another Atlantic-City-First, mega-casino promotion is about to unfold on the resort. Heck, even their parking tower, in terms of ease of inand- out flow, is hands down, the best in the city.

So, as The Pier at Caesars has opened, with the obvious attempt to outdo Borgata and ultimately lure some of their customers to the Harrah's owned Caesars, Borgata once again swoops in and completely changes the model of retail shopping in Atlantic City. To be fair, Resorts was actually the first to offer diverse, name-brand, merchandise from clothing to jewelry, in their Destinations Shop. And, they still do, by the way. But Borgata has taken that good idea and is now rewriting the rules of retail in Atlantic City.

Sheer genius.

WHIM is the new high-high high end shopping boutique at Borgata, and it is almost like a Sharper Image store on steroids. With so much more big-name merchandise, all in one spot. Some people like to walk five miles while browsing upscale shops, I prefer to do all of my shopping in one beautiful location...with the best stuff in the world right at my fingertips. Now, here’s the really good news, as if you didn’t already know. When you play at Borgata you earn credits which can be used at the new WHIM. That means you get to shop there for free.
