The next time a "Free Publication" representative tells you about the number of printed copies, distribution, etc.
Tell 'em to prove it!
As an advertiser you're paying for the number of printed copies. That's what advertising rates are based on. Many free publications inflate, or downright lie, about their actual printed copy number in order to justify their rates to advertisers, and make their publications seem bigger than they are. At the South Jersey Insider, we can't let that go unchallenged. So, as I stated above, the next time a rep tells you the number of copies they print, tell 'em to prove it! If it is what they say, they should be happy to comply, if not, I recommend you tell them good-bye.

What’s on the plate in 2008...
Well, if it’s the plate of Atlantic City development we’re talking about, you couldn’t get anymore on it if you tried. “Piled high” is a term we would use to describe the state of developmental affairs in Atlantic City for 2008. Very high. Of course, there’s a lot of other stuff that goes on in Atlantic City that could be piled into mountains, but that's a story for another day. This issue is all about what’s ahead developmentally in the city that’s always turned on, and Publisher Dan Klein, kicks it off as usual on page 6. Jack Diamond, our lovable CasinoInsider, tackles casino development for 2008 beginning on page 34. Included in his list of openings in 2008 is, of course, the much anticipated Water Club Hotel & Spa at Borgata. Notice we didn’t include the term casino in the title. That’s because there isn’t one as the newest, most luxurious addition to the Borgata “bang” will operate as an entirely separate entity, but with all of Borgata’s amenities, including, of course, its casino. The “piece de resistance” for the project is the indoor pool on the 28th floor that goes right to the outside glass wall. Talk about your proverbial “view To Die For.” Over at Boardwalk Hall it’s one big show after another starting with Hannah Montana and Milley Cyrus on January 5th, to Celine Dion on September 20th. Mixed in between are R. Kelly, Van Halen, Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood, Dancing With the Stars, and The Mummer's “Show of Shows”... Of course, this entire issue is devoted to everything that is worth doing today, tomorrow, next week, next month as well as months down the road.

Just May be time to get out & about...

Every year around this time, most people go into a pre-summer frenzy brought on by the warm weather, light breezes and anticipation of what is to come. It is an annual ritual which neither loses its luster or excitement no matter how many summers seem to pass. And, while summer 2007 is shaping up to be a blockbuster one, the leadin month of May is turning out to be pretty spectacular as well. Borgata continues to lead the Atlantic City entertainment revolution while adding on to the Borgata legacy with the Water Club, currently under rapid construction. Word has it that the new addition will operate as a completely seperate facility from Borgata’s current upscale hotel.

They will be linked of course, but Water Club will have its own, totally unique, operating team, from the General manager on down. It will be Borgata to the nth degree...Harrah’s Entertainment, owner of Caesars, Showboat and Bally’s as well as the Harrah’s brand in Atlantic City, has recently been purchased by a private equity company who intends to take the company private. That has not stopped expansion at Harrah’s in the Marina District which will feature huge spa-like pools, featuring poolside service from soup to nuts. I think it’s safe to say, “water” is the new theme in Atlantic City casino design.

Hard Rock has soft spot...

The Hard Rock Cafe operates relatively quietly at the Virginia Avenue corner inside the Trump Taj Mahal. You wouldn’t know that it’s one of the most visited attractions/restaurants in Atlantic City.

Attraction you say? Well, yeah. Attraction. Where else in the region can you go and check out the musical equipment, dress and accessories of the world’’s biggest Rock Stars?

Answer: Nowhere except the Hard Rock. An avid fan could literally spend a couple of hours checking out the priceless memorabilia like Jimi Hendrix’s famed Fender Stratocaster.

Now, as if you would need any further incentive to visit the attraction created in London in 1963, The Hard Rock is raising money for the American Red Cross, devoting a whole day to the effort. On May 18th, Hard Rock will show case its memorabilia “redec” with live performance by Saliva. The event wis co-sponsored by local radio station The Ace 102.7 FM.
