Dan Klein's South Jersey Insider Magazine cover - December 2007/January 2008
Many free publications claim they do a lot of things. Dan Klein's South Jersey Insider Magazine is the only one that delivers Print run verification... Click here
The next time a "Free Publication" representative tells you about the number of printed copies, distribution, etc.
Tell 'em to prove it!
As an advertiser you're paying for the number of printed copies. That's what advertising rates are based on. Many free publications inflate, or downright lie, about their actual printed copy number in order to justify their rates to advertisers, and make their publications seem bigger than they are. At the South Jersey Insider, we can't let that go unchallenged. So, as I stated above, the next time a rep tells you the number of copies they print, tell 'em to prove it! If it is what they say, they should be happy to comply, if not, I recommend you tell them good-bye.

What’s on the plate in 2008...
Well, if it’s the plate of Atlantic City development we’re talking about, you couldn’t get anymore on it if you tried. “Piled high” is a term we would use to describe the state of developmental affairs in Atlantic City for 2008. Very high. Of course, there’s a lot of other stuff that goes on in Atlantic City that could be piled into mountains, but that's a story for another day. This issue is all about what’s ahead developmentally in the city that’s always turned on, and Publisher Dan Klein, kicks it off as usual on page 6. Jack Diamond, our lovable CasinoInsider, tackles casino development for 2008 beginning on page 34. Included in his list of openings in 2008 is, of course, the much anticipated Water Club Hotel & Spa at Borgata. Notice we didn’t include the term casino in the title. That’s because there isn’t one as the newest, most luxurious addition to the Borgata “bang” will operate as an entirely separate entity, but with all of Borgata’s amenities, including, of course, its casino. The “piece de resistance” for the project is the indoor pool on the 28th floor that goes right to the outside glass wall. Talk about your proverbial “view To Die For.” Over at Boardwalk Hall it’s one big show after another starting with Hannah Montana and Milley Cyrus on January 5th, to Celine Dion on September 20th. Mixed in between are R. Kelly, Van Halen, Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood, Dancing With the Stars, and The Mummer's “Show of Shows”... Of course, this entire issue is devoted to everything that is worth doing today, tomorrow, next week, next month as well as months down the road.

On the Cover: It’s a veritable “Plateful” of stuff going on in 2008 here in Southern New Jersey, and it’s our job to bring it to you. As Usual, we gladly comply. The cover of this issue of Dan Klein's South Jersey Insider Magazine, SJI for short, features a collage of people, places and things which will impact 2008.

Osmond Brothers bring Christmas Show to AC...

The Osmond Brothers
The Osmond Brothers, fresh off a recent, surprise visit to the Oprah Winfrey Show after the sudden death of their father, are headed for Bally's Casino on December 9th to the 13th for an old time Christmas Show...sister Marie is at Trump Marina on December 1st. But the big question is, will Donny make a guest appearance at either show?

ATLANTIC CITY - For years, during the late sixties and early seventies, the Osmond Family entertained America over the holidays with a stretch of holiday Christmas shows during the height of their fame. Like everything that was hot in those days, The Osmonds are making a pretty nice comeback as America longs for the nostalgia and good old fashioned fun such shows used to deliver. With the "Baby- Boomer" generation reaching that dreaded retirement age, expect the demand for nostalgia to continue. Atlantic City's casinos are not ones to be left behind the cultural phenomenon timeline, and that is more than apparent with this years holiday show offerings. The Osmond Brothers stop into Bally's Casino from December 9th to the 13th. Sister Marie, fresh from the "Dancing With The Stars" competition, has a gig at Trump Marina on December 1st. There has been no word whether brother Donny will be appearing with either of the family members, but The CasinoInsider wouldn't be surprised if brother Donny didn't make a guest shot at one, or both, of the shows. Oprah Winfrey recently flew the 400 member Osmond family to Chicago for a special taping after the recent death of their father.

LIVE JAZZ AND MUSIC AT FORMICA'S CAFE...

Everyone in South Jersey knows about Formica Brothers Bakery, located in the heart of Atlantic City's famed "Ducktown." The Formica's haveg been baking the best bread in the world since 1919. In addition to the original Atlantic City Italian Sub bread, they also prepare delicious gourmet breads and pastries. In fact, their dinner breads are so delicious they provide most of the fresh product you see at your favorite casino or local restaurant.

Frank Formica opened the Cafe a couple of years ago, and has turned it into one of the most happening spots in Atlantic City. Formica's Cafe, located at 2310 Arctic Avenue (right across the street from the "World Famous" White House Sub Shop) serves Seattle's Best coffee, and all of Formica's fresh baked goods are available for eat in. Don't miss the authentic Italian tomato pie.

Now, on Saturday nights, Frank presents sensational guitarist and musician, Bob Mower, along with musician friends who show up to jam for the audience. The evening has become an overwhelming success. Bob Sterling of the Bob Sterling Band likes to show up on Saturday nights as well. And, the combination of Mower and Sterling is just terrific. If you can hum the tune Bob Mower can play it, and if you like your music played with intelligence and substance then Sterling's your man.

Meanwhile, the audience has grown tremendously week after week. It's definitely Atlantic City's hottest spot right now. The music coming out of that joint is some of the best anywhere, and that includes the casino stages of Atlantic City. I would definitely put this one on the "to do' list.
