Many free publications claim they do a lot of things. Dan Klein's South Jersey Insider Magazine is the only one that delivers Print run verification... Click here
The next time a "Free Publication" representative tells you about the number of printed copies, distribution, etc.
Tell 'em to prove it!
As an advertiser you're paying for the number of printed copies. That's what advertising rates are based on. Many free publications inflate, or downright lie, about their actual printed copy number in order to justify their rates to advertisers, and make their publications seem bigger than they are. At the South Jersey Insider, we can't let that go unchallenged. So, as I stated above, the next time a rep tells you the number of copies they print, tell 'em to prove it!
If it is what they say, they should be happy to comply, if not, I recommend you tell them
good-bye.

What’s on the plate in 2008...
Well, if it’s the plate of Atlantic City development we’re talking about, you couldn’t get
anymore on it if you tried. “Piled high” is a term we would use to describe the state of
developmental affairs in Atlantic City for 2008. Very high. Of course, there’s a lot of other
stuff that goes on in Atlantic City that could be piled into mountains, but that's a story for
another day. This issue is all about what’s ahead developmentally in the city that’s
always turned on, and Publisher Dan Klein, kicks it off as usual on page 6. Jack
Diamond, our lovable CasinoInsider, tackles casino development for 2008 beginning
on page 34. Included in his list of openings in 2008 is, of course, the much anticipated
Water Club Hotel & Spa at Borgata. Notice we didn’t include the term casino in the
title. That’s because there isn’t one as the newest, most luxurious addition to the
Borgata “bang” will operate as an entirely separate entity, but with all of Borgata’s
amenities, including, of course, its casino. The “piece de resistance” for the project is
the indoor pool on the 28th floor that goes right to the outside glass wall. Talk about your
proverbial “view To Die For.” Over at Boardwalk Hall it’s one big show after another
starting with Hannah Montana and Milley Cyrus on January 5th, to Celine Dion on
September 20th. Mixed in between are R. Kelly, Van Halen, Keith Urban and Carrie
Underwood, Dancing With the Stars, and The Mummer's “Show of Shows”... Of
course, this entire issue is devoted to everything that is worth doing today, tomorrow,
next week, next month as well as months down the road.

On the Cover:
It’s a veritable
“Plateful” of stuff going on in 2008
here in Southern New Jersey, and
it’s our job to bring it to you. As
Usual, we gladly comply. The cover
of this issue of Dan Klein's South
Jersey Insider Magazine, SJI for
short, features a collage of people,
places and things which will impact
2008.

South Jersey Dining GuideTM
By Dan Klein
Some summer favorites to savor...
With May comes more than just the sweet smell of flowers blooming. You can also begin to smell the happy times of summer just ahead.
It's also the time of the year that many restaurants tweak their menus and introduce new food items and entree's to coincide with the warmer temperatures.
What will this year's crop of creative infusions bring?
And, more important, can this year's introductions supplant some long-time favorites from last summer?
Here's a few...
Sauteed Shrimp at mojo... If you can dine on this most excellent creation and not feel sexually aroused, you're just not trying. The term "to die for" was created with exactly this dish in mind.
At Jonathan's, I'm torn between the Filet Gorgonzola and the Barbeque Pork Chops. Either one is a juicy treat of flavor. Forgive me, I'm salivating.
My "Yuppie" buddy Anthony Caravello turned me on to some sushi at Tomatoe's in Margate. Sensational!
I didn't think I'd ever eat sushi. Guess what? I loved it.
And...
AC Bar & Grill is featuring a Lobster and Filet Mignon dinner for $29.95 with the coupon on page 42. Let me tell you folks this is an excellent meal. If you haven't been to the AC Bar & Grill, get your tail up there... Give me the Prime Rib at Smithville, the Shrimp Scampi at Angelonis II. I can't wait to try the Lobster Thermadour at the Knife and Fork Inn. Eddie Hitzel has been making my mouth water for too long with his intoxicating descriptions of this entree.
My delicious food odyssey will continue next month...

A recent visit rewarded me the best shrimp & clams posilippo-fra-diavlo I've had in a while. Named "Most Outstanding Wine Selection," eight years running by Wine Spectator magazine. Excellent steak, veal and Italian. Another favorite? Pork Chops Pizziola. Pork chops sauteed, then simmered in a homemade gravy and finished with some melted mozzarella.

The downbeach culinary scene has developed into a trendy set of Bistro's, Cafe's and Upscale dinner houses over the past seven years, You may want to note that many of the names gracing the owners certificate of these establishments have a strikingly similar resemblance to some of the names of chefs who got their start with Mr. Paul Villareal, Chef/Owner of Brittany At Night. Paul also features his $37.50 prixe fixe dinner for two (one of the best dining deals around. Enjoy your dinner! Open 5pm.

at Tuscany House- Egg Harbor City
965-2111
Every Resort Hotel must have a restaurant that puts a defining signature on the property. Joseph's Restaurant is just that to the new Tuscany House Resort at Renault Winery. We were awed by this new resort in the heart of the Egg Harbor City pinelands. It's worth the drive just to see this magnificent project unfolding. The hotel and restaurant were just the first phase of this endeavor by Joe Milza, owner of Renault Winery. A driving range and outdoor pool are now open, followed by an 18 hole championship golf course.

Atlantic & Pacific Avenues, Atlantic City (609) 344-1133
The Knife & Fork Inn, an Atlantic City icon for more than 75 years, continues its reign under the ownership of Andrew Latz, son of the previous owner. Latz thankfully subscribes to the theory that if it isn't broken, it doesn't need to be fixed, especially when it comes to the menu, which is essentially unchanged (the lobster thermador is as exquisite as ever). The upstairs dining room windows offer patrons an ocean view.

Lefty's dazzles in every area. It's that simple. A truly gourmet dining experience in one of the most beautiful dining rooms in South Jersey. Huge wine casks were formed to create intimate dining booths.
