Many free publications claim they do a lot of things. Dan Klein's South Jersey Insider Magazine is the only one that delivers Print run verification... Click here
The next time a "Free Publication" representative tells you about the number of printed copies, distribution, etc.
Tell 'em to prove it!
As an advertiser you're paying for the number of printed copies. That's what advertising rates are based on. Many free publications inflate, or downright lie, about their actual printed copy number in order to justify their rates to advertisers, and make their publications seem bigger than they are. At the South Jersey Insider, we can't let that go unchallenged. So, as I stated above, the next time a rep tells you the number of copies they print, tell 'em to prove it!
If it is what they say, they should be happy to comply, if not, I recommend you tell them
good-bye.

December 2007/January 2008
View the rest of Dan Klein's South Jersey Insider Magazine
What’s on the plate in 2008...
Well, if it’s the plate of Atlantic City development we’re talking about, you couldn’t get
anymore on it if you tried. “Piled high” is a term we would use to describe the state of
developmental affairs in Atlantic City for 2008. Very high. Of course, there’s a lot of other
stuff that goes on in Atlantic City that could be piled into mountains, but that's a story for
another day. This issue is all about what’s ahead developmentally in the city that’s
always turned on, and Publisher Dan Klein, kicks it off as usual on page 6. Jack
Diamond, our lovable CasinoInsider, tackles casino development for 2008 beginning
on page 34. Included in his list of openings in 2008 is, of course, the much anticipated
Water Club Hotel & Spa at Borgata. Notice we didn’t include the term casino in the
title. That’s because there isn’t one as the newest, most luxurious addition to the
Borgata “bang” will operate as an entirely separate entity, but with all of Borgata’s
amenities, including, of course, its casino. The “piece de resistance” for the project is
the indoor pool on the 28th floor that goes right to the outside glass wall. Talk about your
proverbial “view To Die For.” Over at Boardwalk Hall it’s one big show after another
starting with Hannah Montana and Milley Cyrus on January 5th, to Celine Dion on
September 20th. Mixed in between are R. Kelly, Van Halen, Keith Urban and Carrie
Underwood, Dancing With the Stars, and The Mummer's “Show of Shows”... Of
course, this entire issue is devoted to everything that is worth doing today, tomorrow,
next week, next month as well as months down the road.

It’s a veritable
“Plateful” of stuff going on in 2008
here in Southern New Jersey, and
it’s our job to bring it to you. As
Usual, we gladly comply. The cover
of this issue of Dan Klein's South
Jersey Insider Magazine, SJI for
short, features a collage of people,
places and things which will impact
2008.

Starting Point November 2002
By Dan Klein
November is a family affair...
I love the four-day Thanksgiving weekend. It usually begins the Wednesday evening before at local pubs and bars across America. Many locals, who have left the nest of their respective hometowns to pursue careers or college, come home to reunite with friends and family. Most of the talk that fills the air of these most festive occasions are that of the high school football rivalries about to be revisited the following Thanksgiving Day. Stories of pranks, streaks, scores, records, and superb individual performances, past and present are all on the table. From old-timers to middle-agers to current students, the case for which crop of team was, or is, best is made in earnest.
For the Holy Spirit/Atlantic City High School football rivalry, the cases are heard by alumni from both schools in Atlantic City at McGettigan's Bar. In Margate, debate will be heard at The Margate Pub, Roberts Place, The Greenhouse, Maloney's and Maynards Cafe. For the Mainland Regional High School / Egg Harbor Township annual Turkey Day encounter, arguments will be heard at Diorio's in Somers Point, as well as Charlies Restaurant and Gregory's Bar & Restaurant, also in Somers Point. Ocean City High School's meeting with Pleasantville is one of South Jersey's oldest "Turkey Day" rivalries. And, while these two schools are too far apart in miles to enjoy intimate dialogue the day before the game, each town has its own special spot for getting in on the reminiscing fun. Ocean City folks go to Yesterdays in Marmora to pat each other on the back, or over to one of the Somers Point pubs across the Ninth Street Bridge to engage their other football rivals from Mainland.
But, regardless of which High School you find yourself defending, November is a terrific month for revisiting with family, friends, and yes, even relatives. It is a time to get back to our roots and remember that from which we came. During this most difficult time in our country's history I can't think of anything better than rediscovering the essence of who, and what we are, as a people, as a community, and yes, even as rivals. The Thanksgiving holiday weekend across America and right here in South Jersey at the end of November offers an excellent opportunity to do just that.
So, from all of us here at the South Jersey Insider magazine to all of you, both local and visitor, we wish you the very best during this reflective time in November. And, we thank you, for your readership, your patronage, your loyalty, your spirit of community, and for just being you.
